I know it can be tough for so many of you! I always used to struggle too! There are so many ways you can easily style your shelves. Sometimes the hardest part is gathering up enough accessories that you love to make the process seamless!
Tips for purchasing shelf decor
- Look for items that flow within a color scheme you gravitate towards. For me, it’s earth tones! So anytime I see a unique vase or object I love that is in that color scheme, I buy it! There are times I may not use it right away, but eventually it’s just the item I was needing!
- Make sure to have a variety of sizes. I love grouping two similar vases in different sizes or stacking a smaller decorative box on top of a larger one.
- Texture! I’m talking woven baskets, vases with unique finishes, handmade bowls, wooden objects. They add great visual interest!
- Greenery is a must in my opinion! It instantly brightens and and adds depth. Use different varieties and pick ones with attractive leaves. Think different shades of color, upright or trailing, or even just moss covered spheres.
- Books! I love grouping books of similar colors together! You can save so much by shopping these at thrift stores too!
- Embrace Negative space!
Not overusing and cluttering your shelves is a beautiful thing! Shelves take time! I would much rather wait until I find the perfect item than fill it with items I don’t love just for the sake of having them feel “complete”.
